PROSTATE TEST | PSA
€ 17,50
A prostate test is a medical procedure used to screen for prostate cancer and other prostate-related conditions. It typically involves a blood test to measure levels of a protein produced by the prostate gland called prostate-specific antigen (PSA).
If you tested positive we recomend to reach out to your GP for a rectal exam, where a healthcare provider manually checks the size, shape, and texture of the prostate gland. Prostate tests are important for men, especially those over the age of 50 or with a family history of prostate cancer, to monitor and detect any potential issues early on. This test can help in early detection and treatment of prostate cancer, increasing the chances of successful outcomes.

Instructions for Using a Prostate test/ PSA Rapid Test Kit (Colloidal Gold)
1. Read the Instructions:
- Before beginning the test, thoroughly read the instructions provided with your test kit. Make sure you understand all steps and any precautions that need to be taken.
2. Prepare for the Test:
- Ensure that you have a clean and sterile environment to conduct the test.
- Gather all materials included in the kit: test cassette, buffer (if provided), lancet (for finger prick), alcohol prep pad, and a timer.
3. Collect the Sample:
- Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water and dry them.
- Use the alcohol pad to clean the fingertip from which blood will be drawn.
- Use the lancet to prick the fingertip, then squeeze the fingertip gently to produce a drop of blood.
4. Conduct the Test:
- Apply the blood drop to the sample well on the test cassette. Be careful to follow the specific instructions about the amount of blood needed.
- Add the buffer solution to the sample well according to the kit instructions. This usually involves adding a certain number of buffer drops to the sample.
5. Wait for the Results:
- Start the timer as soon as the sample and buffer have been applied.
- Wait for the recommended time, which is typically around 10 to 15 minutes. Do not interpret the results after the test's window period as this can lead to incorrect results.
6. Read the Results:
- Positive result: Two lines appear; one in the control region (C) and one in the test region (T). This indicates the presence of PSA at a level that may require further medical evaluation.
- Negative result: Only one line appears in the control region (C). This suggests that the PSA level is below the sensitivity threshold of the test.
- Invalid result: If no line appears in the control region (C), the test is invalid regardless of the presence of a line in the test region. The test should be repeated with a new test kit.
7. Dispose of the Test Safely:
- Dispose of all test components in accordance with local regulations for biomedical waste.
8. Follow-Up:
- Regardless of the test result, it is advisable to consult with a healthcare provider for interpretation of the results and to discuss possible further diagnostic testing or monitoring.
Note: This test is intended for preliminary screening and monitoring, not for diagnostic purposes. It is important to follow up with a healthcare provider for any health concerns or abnormal findings.
